Clean the Dryer Vent that Goes Out of the House

Your dryer actually sends hot air outside to prevent it from heating up the inside of your home. However, just like the smaller lint trap, this vent can get clogged up with lint. You should be cleaning this vent at least once per year, or even more, depending on how much laundry you do. Obviously, one person living alone won’t have as much buildup of lint as a family of six. Keep in mind that this is a simple chore, but it can be a little messy. Feel free to Google some suggestions on how to approach this chore.

Clean Your Fridge Coils

This is not a noticeable chore, but it can become a big issue when not taken care of. Some fridges have the coils on the back while others are on the bottom. However, over time, they tend to collect dust and dirt. When your fridge coils are dirty, the fridge has to work harder in order to keep the food at a cool temperature.

For those of you with coils on the back of the fridge, make sure to unplug the fridge first in order to stay safe. Also, pull the fridge away from the wall to reach the coils without tipping the fridge. You can grab a vacuum with a hose and remove the dirt that way. This can actually save you money when it comes to your final electricity bills at the end of the month.

Clean Your Vacuum Filter

Regardless of whether you have a vacuum with a bag or with a compartment, make sure to clean it out frequently! For those of you with vacuums with a bag, you may notice a decrease in suction over time. Cleaning out the bag and the filter frequently can help with allergies in your guests, as well as the functionality of the vacuum. Don’t forget this important chore!

However, it’s not uncommon for this to smoke up the home. Make sure you are home and keep the windows open while you put on this setting!
